★ Central stump grinding
Central has bigger lots than most of East Baton Rouge Parish, with mature oaks, pecans and pines that were left standing when neighborhoods went in. Large trees on big lots are easier to drop in one piece, which can save you money, but only when there's a clear fall zone.
We're a family-owned tree company based in Walker, about 20 minutes from Central, owned and run by partners Jeremy and Jason. We've been doing this work across the Capital Region for two generations, and one of the owners prices every job on site, not over the phone.
★ When to call
A stump left behind keeps causing problems for years. These are the most common reasons customers call us.
🐜
Decaying stumps attract termites, carpenter ants and wood-boring beetles close to your home.
🌱
Many species keep sending up suckers from the stump and roots.
🚶
Stumps hide in tall grass and catch feet, mowers and trailer wheels.
🏡
That spot could be lawn, a garden bed, a patio or a new tree.
🍄
Rotting stumps grow fungi that can spread to other trees nearby.
💰
A clean yard without old stumps looks better and sells better.
★ How it works
No surprises on price, no ruts in your lawn, no mess left behind.
1
We check the stump size, access and any buried utility lines.
2
Priced per stump or per job, with cleanup options spelled out.
3
Our grinder chips the stump and main roots well below grade.
4
Chips raked into the hole or hauled off, area raked level.
5
Add topsoil and seed or sod, or ask us about replanting.
★ Pricing
Stump grinding is usually priced per stump, with discounts for multiple stumps in one visit. These factors move the price the most.
Factor
Why it matters
Stump diameter
Bigger stumps take more grinding time
Access
Open yards vs. gates, slopes and tight backyards
Root flare and surface roots
Wide root flares and roots you want removed add time
Chip handling
Leaving chips in the hole costs less than hauling them away
If we're already removing the tree, adding stump grinding to the same visit is the most cost-effective option.
★ Safety first
Gas, water, fiber and electric lines often run right under old stumps. Before every grind we request a Louisiana 811 locate so buried lines are marked.

★ FAQ
How deep do you grind stumps?
We typically grind 6 to 12 inches below grade, deeper where you plan to plant or build. Tell us what you want to do with the spot and we'll grind accordingly.
Do you need to call 811 before grinding?
Yes. Louisiana 811 marks buried utility lines before we grind so we don't hit gas, water or cable lines. We handle that call for you.
What happens to the wood chips?
We can rake them back into the hole, spread them as mulch or haul them away. Hauling costs a little more.
Can you grind a stump in a fenced backyard in Central?
Usually yes. Our compact grinders fit through most standard gates. If access is very tight, we'll tell you during the estimate.
Will the stump grow back?
Grinding below grade removes the growing point, so most stumps won't resprout. A few species can send up suckers from roots, which we can treat or grind out.
